ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT FOR TEENS

To make your teen’s initial evaluation easier, Dr. Carbonella at Rejuvante Dental Arts offers a no-cost consultation that includes a complimentary exam, a 3D scan, and one-on-one time with the doctor to personalize a braces or Invisalign® treatment plan to get your teen the smile results you both want, while easily fitting into the way your teen lives. We do this all in a single visit to our office, because we believe in convenience, simplicity, and most importantly—the value of your time.  Simply schedule a no-cost, no-obligation consultation today—no dentist referral is necessary.

Invisalign® clear aligner treatment uses 3D images of your teen’s teeth to create a succession of custom-fit, see-through trays that slowly move teeth into the correct alignment and position. Teens who are self-conscious about their appearance often prefer this less obvious form of treatment. Since the aligners can be easily removed, they are also a great choice for teens who play sports, are in the band, or may not want to give up their favorite hard and sticky foods

When to see an orthodontist

  • Your teen should see an orthodontist if he or she experiences any of the following problems:
  • Self-esteem or self-confidence issues stemming from their smile
  • Difficulty biting or chewing
  • Too much space between teeth
  • Frequent biting of the cheek or the inside of the mouth
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Teeth that meet abnormally
  • Jaws that shift or make noises
  • Early, late, or irregular loss of their baby teeth
  • Jaws and teeth that are out of proportion to the rest of the face
  • Protrusion of teeth

The most common time for orthodontic treatment started between the ages of 12 and 16, since most permanent teeth will be in place, the teen years. Experienced orthodontists like Dr. Carbobella will also be able to easily detect issues with spacing, crowding, bite, and alignment in this age range, and the bone and jaw structure are formed enough to allow orthodontic treatment to begin. Some teens may have even started Phase I treatment at an earlier age, and are now following it up with Invisalign® full braces, or other orthodontic treatment.

Here at Rejuvenate Dental Arts, we offer:

  • Traditional metal braces
  • Ceramic braces
  • Invisalign®

HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT TAKE?

This is a question with no concrete answer, unfortunately! Every case is different, but on average, the active stage of orthodontic treatment will last anywhere from 6-36 months. After this phase of treatment is complete, your teen will need to wear a retainer for as long as Dr. Carbonella feels is necessary based on their individual case. We work as a team with both parents and teens to create the kind of smile that will last a lifetime.
