I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday season!
New Year's is a time for making resolutions, so I'm going to suggest something that will not only make you feel better, it will also make you look better! What is it? Brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing them once a day!
Brushing and flossing remove dirt and grime from the surfaces of your teeth and between your teeth and at the gum surfaces. That means there are fewer places where bacteria can grow, which means fewer cavities and fewer gum problems. It also means sweeter smelling breath and less chance for coffee/tea and soda stains to accumulate.
It's true that most of us break our new-year resolutions within a few days of January 1st, especially if we are resolving to make major life-style changes. But we also know that slow and steady wins races and that habits formed over 21 days stand a better chance of being maintained. So instead of making this a life-long challenge, make it a one-day-at-a-time challenge. Those individual days will add up, and you'll have developed a new habit before you even know it!
If you need a new toothbrush or some dental floss, you can pick some up at the office at your next regularly scheduled dental exam and cleaning (or stop by during our office hours). Happy New Year!!
